Relief

Days of sun baked earth
and searing heat.
Gave way to leaden
skies pouring forth
Liquid refreshment.
Refreshing weary
souls full of
sleepless nights
and blazing days.
Now glad hearts
pour forth praise
to the One
who grants sleep
to His children
and sends forth
rain in it's season.
Cooling ocean breezes
pour forth from
same pale gray expanse.
Renewing all who
feel it's blowing breath.
Like the wind of His spirit
renewing our spirits.
And we breathe deeply
and sigh heavily
and thank Him for this
relief.

Sharon, just come over here and you can have rain and wind every day at the moment. We are having the wettest August since 1912.

Yes, it was blessed relief, wasn't it? The HOT days were almost too much for many of us. I'm a cool weather person. Maybe that's why I love living in Oregon so much! Ah - rain, blessed rain.

Nan...think of you often as well.Especially lately as I lay upon my hot bed with my sleep mask on and the O2 concentrator(set at 3)heating up our woefully small apartment's hallway.Big grin...I am so enjoying this gift of rain and cool and gray skies.Love~Sharon

Oooooh our cooler weather has brought me back to life! August is my least favorite month due to the heat and dry, dry air. Thankfully the Lord threw in a birthday and an anniversary for our family to celebrate, giving us a dose of joy as we crisp up. These evenings of coolness replenish me. I so look forward to fall and the hope of some rains. Bulb-planting time will soon be upon us, but for today I plan to stroll the gardens and smile at the rose of sharon that popped open in the midst of all this heat. What a joy! : )

Having grown up in Sacramento for the first 30 years of my life I well identify with the longing for cooler weather.I know not how I lived in such stifling weather for so long...Smile...Blessings~Sharon

Sharon,

Love the poem. This summer has been one of the best for me in a long time. We did have some very hot days, but very little humidity and lots of rain. I didn't mind it one bit. I'd much rather have rain than those scorching temps and humidity.

Be sure to drop over to my Writing Nook and enter my Harvest Getaway.

Blessings,
Mary
