What Can We Give Him?

It's a timeless question. What do you give the man who has everything? And when that man is the Lord Himself it becomes an even deeper conundrum. What do you give the ONE who has everything, owns everything.?What do you give Him who holds all of time and eternity in His very capable hands? The answer is found in the following words penned by Christina Rossetti:

In the bleak midwinter, frost wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, in the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain; heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign. In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there, cherubim and seraphim thronged the air; but his mother only, in her maiden bliss, worshiped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part; yet what I can I give him: give my heart.
We celebrate God's greatest gift at this time of year.Christmas.The birthday of our Saviour Jesus Christ. We gather with family and friends around a table laden with food or a tree laden with packages.Yet,the reason we gather is often lost in the commercialism of the season. We give gifts to each other and that is good. But what about the Guest of honor? The Lord Jesus Himself.Enjoy, even relish time with your loved ones. But don't let the One who loves us with an everlasting love go away empty handed this year.
Blessings~Sharon

Dear Sharon, What a wonderful Christmas you had and I'm so glad you had snow. Doesn't have to stick to enjoy the beauty of it! I was touched by the post and the quote. Very true. We can give Christ ourselves, our spirit, our soul our heart! Love and ~hugs~ my precious friend.

Amen Nancze.Does'nt have to stick to be appreciated. You know,I was struck very strongly this Christmas with the fact that many times Jesus may go away empty handed from our celebrations. That was the inspiration for this post.It came to me so very strongly I just had to put it down in this post.:-)

It seems we had the same theme idea.

We can give the gift that keeps giving: our unadulterated adoration. An adoration that worships in thought, deed, service, and through a life transformed by the power of His Spirit.

you shared,
We celebrate God's greatest gift at this time of year.

Perhaps we should see it as the highlight or culmination of our year round celebration of Him.

Dear Sharon, thank you for the blessing of your recent visits. It lifts my spirit to know that I have such wonderful friends who are there to inspire and encourage me. The gift of you is better than any thing I could get. My friends are my strength next to the Lord. I believe he brought you to my life to remind me that I am loved and cared for. Some we all need to be reassured about. So I do cherish you and thank God for you. Love and ~hugs~
